Sesquicentennial celebration schedule

A look at the Buckley sesquicentennial celebration this week:
General Information
The Village Hall will have a Welcome Center, and visitors can register and get programs from 2 TO 6:30 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.. TO 1 p.m. Sunday.
The town's historical museum will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, 8 to 9:30 a.m. and after the parade until 8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran High.
Visitors can take a self-guided tour of Buckley's older homes, businesses and landmarks. A map and information will be provided in a brochure.
Friday
at Buckley Legion grounds
4 p.m.: Salute to veterans
4:30 p.m.: Fish fry, other vendors and beer tent
6:30 p.m.: Opening ceremonies (bring lawn chairs for additional seating). In case of rain, event will be at Christ Lutheran High
7 p.m.: Style show, talent show, beard contest. Announcement of Mr. and Miss Buckley
Saturday
at Buckley Lake
8 a.m.: Coffee, juice and rolls
8-10 a.m.: Fishing derby
9 a.m.: Volleyball tournament
10 a.m.: Parade, after which tractor/car show begins on Railroad Avenue. Food stands, ice cream and drink vendors and beer tent open, and "Little Obie," the train, will be available for rides.
Noon-2 p.m.: Postal cancellation booth
12:30 p.m.: Little League baseball
1 p.m.: Jake's Boys gospel group and Julie McCleary, ragtime piano
1-5 p.m.: Interactive adventures
3 p.m.: Reunion softball and cow chip bingo with Buckley 4-H
4 p.m.: Kids' tractor pull
5 p.m.: St. John's pork sandwiches
6 p.m.: Duck race (ducks available from Lion's Club members)
6:30 p.m.: Quilt raffle drawing
8 p.m.: Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets
Sunday
at Buckley Legion Grounds
7:30 a.m.: Lion's Club breakfast
9:30 a.m.: Community church service with a community choir
Noon: Food stands, other vendors and beer tent open
12:45 p.m.: Introduction of former Dutch Masters baseball players.
1 p.m.: Cemetery walk. Arrive by 12:45 p.m. at the St. John's/Woodland Cemetery southeast of town (In case of rain, event will be at Christ Lutheran High)
1 p.m.: Buckley Dutch Masters vs. Gifford-Flatville in Eastern Illinois Baseball League doubleheader. Between games: vintage baseball exhibition
