Champaign, Urbana set spring yard waste pickup dates

Spring yard waste collections are set for Champaign and Urbana residents.

In Urbana, the city's spring yard waste cleanup will be regular recycling days for residents the weeks of April 12 and April 26. Leaves and non-woody plant material may be left on the curbs in the paper yard waste bags.

In Champaign, the city will be divided into zones for the spring collection, which will be done April 5 through April 30.

On collection days, collections may occur later than normal or even the next day. Materials not collected by the end of the next day should be reported to Champaign public works at 403-4077. Residents may place bagged leaves or bundled branches and twigs at the curb by 6 a.m. on their collection dates as follows:

North of Springfield Avenue:

– West of Mattis Avenue: Wednesdays, April 7 and April 21.

– East of Mattis to Prospect Avenue: Thursdays, April 8 and April 22.

– East of Prospect to Wright Street: Fridays, April 9 and April 23.

South of Springfield:

– West of Interstate 57 and south to Windsor Road: Fridays, April 16 and April 30.

– East of I-57 to Mattis Avenue and south to Kirby Avenue: Wednesdays, April 14 and April 28.

– East of I-57 to Mattis Avenue and south of Kirby Avenue to Curtis Road – Thursdays, April 15 and April 29.

– East of Mattis Avenue to Prospect Avenue and south to Kirby Avenue: Mondays, April 12 and April 26.

– East of Mattis Avenue to Prospect Avenue and south of Kirby Avenue: Tuesdays, April 13 and April 27.

– East of Prospect Avenue to Wright Street and south to Kirby Avenue: Tuesdays, April 6 and April 20.

– East of Prospect Avenue to Wright Street and south of Kirby Avenue to Windsor Road, Mondays, April 5 and April 19.
