Champaign County property tax payment due Wednesday

URBANA – The second installment of Champaign County real estate tax payments is due on Wednesday, Sept. 1, according to Champaign County Treasurer Dan Welch.
The treasurer's office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to accept property tax payments.
Taxpayers also can make their payments at the 24-hour drop box in the south circle drive of the Brookens Administrative Center, 1776 E. Washington St., U. In addition, any payments made by mail will be considered on time provided they have a Sept. 1 postmark. By law, interest on late payments is calculated at 1.5 percent a month and will be assessed on payments made after Sept. 1.
