Indiana Dem leader to try for meeting with GOP

URBANA — Indiana House Minority Leader Pat Bauer said he hoped to arrange a face-to-face meeting with House Republican leadership in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Bauer, D-South Bend, said the meeting would be an effort to pursue a compromise to end the political standoff that has led more than 30 Democrats to leave Indiana for Urbana, avoiding a quorum that would allow votes on bills affecting workers and education.

"I’m willing to negotiate any time, anywhere," Bauer said.

Bauer said the remaining members of the Democratic caucus would likely remain in Urbana. He planned to return here after his meeting in Indianapolis to report to his fellow Democrats in the House.

A big thanks to the fugitive Indiana senators for helping out the Chambana economy. Local radio stations should show their support by playing "Indiana wants me but I cant go back there" nonstop.

Nice line. Willing to negotiate anywhere except where he's supposed to be.
