Philo meeting center work may top $30,000
PHILO -- It may cost over $30,000 to repair the gym area of the R.E. Franks Meeting Center.
Brett Stillwell of MSA Professional Services presented a report to the Philo Village Board last week on the scope of work for a tuck-pointing project.
Stillwell said water has been getting down into the walls because of "natural wear and tear." In addition, some water is being introduced through roof leaks, he said.
Stillwell said some brick replacement would be needed.
The village board will advertise for bids for the tuck-pointing project, which is estimated to cost about $25,000.
The village board accepted Advanced/Wayne Cain and Sons Roofing's bid of $3,555 to repair the roof.
"It doesn't make any sense to fix the wall and not the roof that caused the damage," Trustee Paul Brady remarked.
Painting and other miscellaneous work will probably cost around $1,500, according to Stillwell.
