Songer to step down from War Museum post

DANVILLE — Harold "Sparky" Songer will step down as president of the Vermilion County War Museum and as its day-to-day director as of June 30.

Songer listed health issues as the main reason. "I've got two hips that are 17, 18 years old and a knee that's a year older than that," Songer said. "I just can't get going like I used to do."

Songer said he would help whoever follows him, but would limit his activities.

"It's time for someone else," he said.
