State Senator Cultra says lawmakers will have a busy veto session next week
The veto session gets underway next week in Springfield, and an Iroquois County State Senator says lawmakers have a lot of work to do and not enough time to get it done.
Republican Senator Shane Cultra of Onarga held a conference call Wednesday detailing what bills and issues the legislature will be addressing.
Cultra says he does not support any excessive gambling expansion, including a casino in Danville.
But he says there needs to be legislation that allows slot machines at race tracks.

Cultra says another major issue lawmakers have to deal with next week is finding a way to pay regional school superintendents, who have not been paid since June.
Governor Quinn eliminated funding for their salaries for this fiscal year.
Cultra says lawmakers should just reinstate the salaries for regional superintendents of education and not take money from local governments to fund state government.
Quinn says they should be paid out of the corporate personal property replacement tax.
Cultra says that is unacceptable.

- State Senator Shane Cultra says regional superintendents should not be paid for by local governments.
Cultra says even though Governor Quinn wants to do away with regional superintendents, he says he supports retaining them because they play a key role for local school districts.
He says lawmakers will have their hands full trying to get through all of the legislation and issues that will come before the legislature. Cultra says this will be one of the busiest and most important veto sessions he has been involved in since his time in the legisature began in 2003.
The veto session consists of six days, three days next week and three the following week.
