Democrats can't agree on county board chairman
CHAMPAIGN – Democrats control the Champaign County Board by a 15-12 margin. But, for the second time in two years, it appears likely that county board Republicans could wind up picking the next county board chairman.
County board Democrats met in caucus for a contentious three hours Sunday afternoon and, on the second round of voting, Tony Fabri of Champaign won the required majority to be the Democratic nominee for board chairman.
