Bike trail's fate to be decided soon

MONTICELLO – Residents of Piatt County could know by April 11 whether a new hiking and biking trail will be built west of Monticello.

The city would like to acquire a stretch of an abandoned railroad bed from the Monticello wastewater treatment plant west to an old grain elevator at Amenia from a nonprofit organization called Heartland Pathways. The trail would be roughly 4 miles long, ending just north of Allerton Park.
