Officer a man of many talents

University of Illinois police Officer Tony Ortiz hits a pass shot on a handball court at the IMPE Building on the UI campus.

URBANA – Tony Ortiz, a police officer at the University of Illinois raised in the streets of New York, admits there was a little culture shock when he first came to the prairie around Champaign-Urbana.

"My family was wondering why I left New York," said the 48-year-old Ortiz. "I always have curiosity. I'm an adventurer. I want to see new things."
