A friend indeed can help kids relate to siblings

Children who have a good buddy before they have a brother or sister are more likely to get along with their siblings, even when the two reach their oft-turbulent teen years.

"This study shows the effects are long lasting," University of Illinois Professor Laurie Kramer said recently.
