White enrollment down as parents weigh options

Siblings Nate and Lillian Sokolski do homework at the kitchen table of their Champaign home. Nate, 15, a freshman at Central High, switch from private to public school in the sixth grade, when his parents wanted him to experience a broader education. Lillian recently switched from public to private school for second grade.

CHAMPAIGN – Dave Tewksbury firmly supports the $66 million building plan for Champaign schools. Marci Dodds thinks she does, too.

Which is notable because both Champaign parents moved their second-graders into private schools this year.
