SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois House on Wednesday unanimously approved legislation to help prevent abuse of a common cough suppressant that led to the 2004 death of a Douglas County teen.
Dextromethorphan, or DXM, is found in more than 140 over-the-counter cough medicines, according to the National Drug Intelligence Center, part of the U.S. Department of Justice.
