Storm leaves trail of damage

Siding from the south wall of the Esquire Lounge in downtown Champaign lies twisted along Walnut street on Sunday after severe storms roared through the area. Some patrons sought refuge in the basement as the storm passed, but no injuries were reported.

CHAMPAIGN – Susan King had just finished her dinner at Ryan's Family Steak House in Champaign Sunday evening, and was driving on University Avenue to get a cup of coffee when the weather started turning ugly.

"I was up by Carle, and the sirens went off," she said. "It looked pretty dark, and I looked for a safe place."
