World war II veteran Ed Barstow, a former Marine who fought at Iwo Jime, left, and former Marine Ceaser Perez share a laugh early last month while visiting at Barstow's Urbana apartment.'I'll never leave him behind,' Perez said of his friendship with Barstow.
URBANA – Ceaser M. Perez, 34, part Latino, part Polish-Irish. One hundred percent Marine.
He graduated from high school on a Friday, left for the Marines on Monday. He served four years, got out, missed it and signed on for another four.
