Maybe it was just that people didn't have air conditioning back then, and they just plain expected to be hot in the summertime.
But, in the midst of this week's punishing heat wave, Elizabeth Babbs of Urbana says she just doesn't remember feeling quite so hot during her early years of working as a long-distance telephone operator for Illinois Bell.
