Rick Crippin of Henning ties a small wooden cross to his Harley before leaving Sunday from Gutterridge Harley-Davidson in Tilton. He was participating in the Middlefork Valley Harley Owners Group's memorial drive in memory of the Sept. 11 attacks. The bike is a memorial to his son, Sgt. Joshua T. Crippin, who served in Iraq with the National Guard and died in an Aug. 3, 2005, motorcycle accident after returning home.

The name of Rick Crippin's son is painted carefully on the green and black motorcycle he rode in a Sept. 11 memorial on Sunday – Sgt. Joshua T. Crippin.

"It's my way of feeling like I helped him," the elder Crippin said of his son, who served in Iraq as part of the National Guard.
