Cold temps give soybeans a reprieve

URBANA – Soybean rust was brought to North America on the winds of Hurricane Ivan. Cold weather stopped it this week in Southern Illinois.

Illinois agriculture officials confirmed soybean rust from a Pope County leaf sample Friday, the first ever in the state. Later that day, the USDA also confirmed a Massac County sample. Both are in extreme southern Illinois.
