Man shot by officer files lawsuit

URBANA – A man who was shot by a Champaign police officer on his own property almost three months ago is suing the city and the officer.
Larry Martin and his wife Barbara Martin filed suit Thursday in Champaign County Circuit Court against the city and Mark Briggs, a five-year veteran of the Champaign police force, in connection with Briggs' shooting of Larry Martin on Aug. 27.
