Five of eight teens appear in court in truancy cases

URBANA – Besides their poor attendance at school, eight Champaign County teens alleged to be truant have something else in common – fathers who are unknown or who have little to do with their children.
Only five of the eight summoned to court Tuesday to answer truancy petitions filed last month by the Champaign County state's attorney's office, showed up. Judge Heidi Ladd issued warrants of apprehension for the other three.
