SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Board of Higher Education on Thursday approved a budget proposal that boosts state support for universities by 1.5 percent next year. That translates to an extra $10.6 million for the University of Illinois, with $4.2 million of it for the Urbana-Champaign campus.
"The Illinois Board of Higher Education's recommended increase in higher education is welcome news, and if enacted would move us ahead of last year," said UI spokesman Tom Hardy.
