UI's notorious party is "Unofficial" tradition

Tiffany Smith of Orland Park, standing along Sixth Street in Champaign on Friday, said she came to Campustown to celebrate Unofficial St. Patrick's Day on orders from her father, a University of Illinois alumnus, who told her to go and get wasted because that's what he did.
CHAMPAIGN – Ryan Cokril of Ann Arbor, Mich., grinned as he clutched a beer at a party on Daniel Street on Friday.
"This is awesome, man!" said Cokril, who drove from the University of Michigan with his best friend, Phil Draz of Normal, to take part in Unofficial St. Patrick's Day.
