SPRINGFIELD – Illinois took another step toward a statewide smoking ban on Thursday, when the House environmental health committee approved it on a 10-to-2 vote.
"Today's vote ý is a victory for the health and well-being of the people of Illinois, and moves us one step closer to our goal to pass the Smoke Free Illinois Act," said a statement from Clement Rose, president of the American Cancer Society's Illinois division.
