Salary approved for a Danville job rejected by personnel panel

DANVILLE – Last week, a Vermilion County committee did not allow the county auditor to add a new employee in her office, but Monday night, a different committee went ahead and approved a salary even though the position doesn't exist.
Vermilion County Board Chairman Jim McMahon told the finance committee during its meeting Monday night that the position is very necessary. An additional employee, he said, would give Vermilion County Auditor Linda Lucas-Anstey more time to feed financial information to him, the board and other county officials, so they can adequately prepare a new county budget.
