Vote set for merit-based raise system

DANVILLE – Vermilion County officials are moving toward a merit-based system for granting raises to department heads by authorizing the county board chairman to review their performances and determine appropriate salary increases.

"We're trying to show that nothing is automatic," said Bill Donahue, Vermilion County board member and chairman of the finance committee. "We're trying to show an incentive for hard work."
