Researchers testing theory on how to find age of plastics

That CD on your desk and the PVC pipes in your plumbing, it might surprise you to learn, are made of what's essentially frozen liquid.

As such, the molecules in the disc are moving, and not to get away from the noise if it's heavy metal, either. As a liquid, the material wants to flow, even if in its current state it appears to be solid.
