UI Farmland sells for $8 million

The University of Illinois sold farmland in DeKalb County this week for just over $8 million to fund agricultural scholarships and expansion of the South Farms.

The amount was about what the university and its broker had expected; farmland sells at a premium in DeKalb County and other counties in the Chicago region, said Kevin Noland, director of cash management and agricultural investment with the university.
