Bill aiding Curtis Road work sent to governor

SPRINGFIELD – Local governments would be able to purchase property quickly for the Curtis Road project without landowners' permission, under a bill the House sent to the governor's desk this morning.
SB 1042 would grant quick-take power to Savoy, Champaign and Champaign County, allowing them to seize the land and start construction while the courts determine how much the owner should be compensated.
