Danville liquor tax revenues beat expectations

DANVILLE – It's been eight months since the Danville City Council adjusted the city's liquor taxes, and the change has helped bring in nearly $44,000 more than was expected for the fiscal 2006-2007 year.
Last August, aldermen approved amendments to the city's licensing and taxation ordinance that reduced the 2 percent liquor tax paid by bars and restaurants to 1 percent, and increased the 2 percent tax on package liquor sales to 3 percent.
