Researchers study how to 'see' under ground

Standing on a typically flat, grassy space surrounded by cornfields south of Bondville, it's easy to miss the rolling hills, river valleys, lake beds and other features that characterize the area.

Mostly because they're under a lot of soil, clay, rock, water-bearing gravel and sand and more, laid down over the eons as the glaciers that once covered this region retreated.
