CHAMPAIGN – The school year had barely started when fifth-grader Jamiah Dalton started pestering social worker Penny Griglione: When will the backpacks be ready?
Not the books-and-homework kind. The ones stuffed with cereal bars, Rice Krispie treats, peanut butter and crackers.
