Urbana elementary schools make adequate yearly progress; middle, high schools fall short

URBANA – This year's answers to the three most nerve-wracking letters in education were released today, when Urbana schools announced if its schools had made adequate yearly progress, or "AYP," for the 2006-07 school year.

The testing, mandated by the federal No Child Left Behind policy, dictates which schools receive federal funding, how much, and – if goals aren't met over several years – which schools need to reorganize entirely.
