Popular UI apple lab may be last for some years

URBANA – Put slices of 30 different types of apple on tables in the Mumford Hall lobby, send in 200 University of Illinois students and what happens? They taste them, they rank them, they get credit for one quiz and they have a lot of fun.

Wednesday, horticulture specialist Bob Skirvin conducted his popular annual apple lab, asking for students to compare varieties and pick their favorites. This year, the event was a bit nostalgic for regular participants because it may be the last one.
