Retired Belgian firefighter visits area during Illinois vacation

CHAMPAIGN – As a 75-year-old retired Belgian firefighter climbed the ladder on a Champaign fire truck Friday, he seemed right at home.
Martin "Marcel" Bernard, who officially retired from the Waremme department in 1992, but continued to show up for work as a unpaid volunteer every day for the past 15 years, was given a trip to Chicago by his city.
