Governor's cuts likely to stand

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois House's vote to restore more than $400 million of the governor's budget cuts appears to be in vain. Today is the last day for the Senate to act on the override motions, and lawmakers aren't even scheduled to be in session.

"I asked for an opportunity to vote on these overrides, and I am very pessimistic, based on the answer I got from leadership," state Sen. Mike Frerichs, D-Champaign, said Wednesday.
