SPRINGFIELD – Ohio on Monday became the fifth state to sign on in support of Illinois' bid to land the $1.5 billion FutureGen plant.
Tuscola and Mattoon are competing against the Texas communities of Jewett and Odessa for the right to host what is being touted as the world's cleanest-burning coal plant. The project is a joint effort between the U.S. Department of Energy and the FutureGen Industrial Alliance, a group of major energy companies from around the world.
