SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission has filed a complaint against Champaign attorney Brian Edward King, alleging that he kept funds that ought to have been turned over to his law firm at the time.
Under his employment agreement with Erwin, Martinkus and Cole Ltd., King was to get half of all legal fees from clients that he brought into the firm or matters to which he was assigned, the complaint stated. King was to turn over to the firm all payments he received for legal fees, and the firm would then pay him his share. The agreement also prohibited King from practicing law or representing clients independently, the complaint said.
