Danville Township Supervisor Roger Boen had property taxes on his manufactured house reduced significantly thanks to a 34-year-old state law.
DANVILLE – A recent decision by the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board might have opened the door for some local owners of manufactured homes to reduce their property tax bills significantly.
The state board ruled that a 2,052-square-foot manufactured house, owned by Danville Township Supervisor Roger Boen, should have been classified as a mobile home by local assessors. The state board also ruled that the assessment and classification of such homes is not being done in an equitable manner throughout Vermilion County.
