Clinton residents, company at odds on chemical waste

Employees work with trash at Landfill No. 2 south of Clinton. Area Disposal Services, Inc. is hoping to use an undeveloped portion of the Clinton Landfill to bury soil-based waste containing PCBs, but residents have organized to prevent additional PCB waste from being buried there.

CLINTON – Some DeWitt County residents are concerned over a proposal by a landfill company to store chemical wastes at the Clinton landfill.

They've placed a question on the Feb. 5 ballot asking county voters whether they support putting chemical wastes there.
