GIBSON CITY – Work is now scheduled to begin May 1 to widen and resurface five blocks of Melvin Street, a project town leaders have wanted to do for more than 40 years.
Melvin Street is considered an arterial street, according to City Superintendent Randy Stauffer. It is used by traffic to the municipal pool, park and ball diamond, Scout cabin, elementary and middle schools and the hospital.
