Ameren's rate request faces a hostile crowd

Nancy Roberts talks about the $208 AmerenIP bill she received for an empty rental home that she keeps at 58 degrees, during an Illinois Commerce Commission rate hike hearing Thursday in the city council chambers at the Champaign City Building.

CHAMPAIGN – Harry R. Querry of Urbana is a senior citizen who took a little while to walk up to the microphone Thursday night at a public hearing held by the Illinois Commerce Commission about AmerenIP's proposed rate increases for electricity and natural gas.

Speaking softly but firmly, Querry appeared to touch a nerve with the audience, which exceeded 100 people, at the Champaign City Building.
