CHAMPAIGN – Parkland College evacuated its campus within 30 minutes when officials became concerned about a bomb threat in December.
That incident turned out to be a false threat, but Parkland officials, along with other campus leaders nationwide, were reminded that dangers can be all too real when Steven Kazmierczak fired guns into a large lecture hall at Northern Illinois University on Feb. 14, killing five students and wounding 16 others before he shot himself.
