Tuscola board puts public safety sales tax on ballot

TUSCOLA – Douglas County voters will have another chance this November to decide whether they want to pay a half-cent public safety sales tax.

The Douglas County Board voted unanimously Wednesday to put the question on the Nov. 4 ballot. The sales tax, which would add 50 cents to a $100 purchase, would be used for public safety improvements, including improving security for officers at the Douglas County Jail and alleviating overcrowding problems there.
