Doctor leaves behind a legacy of excellence

CRIS Senior Services named a garden just south of the center at 309 N. Franklin St., Danville, in honor Dr. L.S. 'Bill' Tanner (shown at a gathering at the garden) and his family. Dr. Tanner died Tuesday after battling cancer.

DANVILLE – The first two years Amy Henkelman was executive director of CRIS Senior Services, Dr. L.W. "Bill" Tanner checked in on her almost every day.

"He always made sure I had what I needed," Henkelman said. "If I had a problem, he'd ask me questions until I figured it out for myself."
