Farmer City council rejects tax on amusements

FARMER CITY – Council members quickly nixed an ordinance that would have put a 3 percent tax on amusements, with the majority indicating they have no interest in such a proposal.

Taking its place on the discussion hot seat was the ownership of South Park. The 45-acre site is used by the public, including the school district, but owned by the Farmer City Fair Association since acquiring it from Illinois Power in 1995.
