Volunteer Nancy Gulick gets some help picking up trash Saturday from 6-year-old Clayton Hankins of Hoopeston, whose mother, Sashsa Hankins, is a Wal-Mart employee. The cold, damp weather did not stop volunteers from cleaning up West Newell Road on Saturday morning.

DANVILLE – Winds and sleet did not deter the 20 or so volunteers who came out Saturday morning to clean along West Newell Road around the Wal-Mart shopping center.

The group – made up largely of Wal-Mart employees – traipsed through soggy ground to collect an estimated 50 bags of garbage.
