URBANA – A compromise ordinance creating a public arts commission is headed for a final vote Monday night before the city council.
The final version, worked out in a series of meetings between Mayor Laurel Prussing and Alderwoman Danielle Chynoweth, does not include a recommended level of funding for a public arts program and gives the city council final approval over any works of art to be placed on city property. Prussing had sought both of those changes.
