Legislation would cut some paperwork for subpoenas

SPRINGFIELD – Lining up witnesses for a trial could get one step simpler for attorneys if proposed state legislation becomes law.

When sending subpoenas, lawyers would be able to skip the step requiring paperwork to be authorized by the circuit clerk's office before the subpoena is served.
