Dana Eckerty at Eastern Illinois Food Bank organizing some of the food that was collected during the National Association of Letter Carrier's "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive on May 10. Champaign and Urbana carriers collected 30,000 lbs of food, and Danville 17,000 lbs.
DANVILLE – Local food pantry officials were preparing for a drop in donations for last Saturday's "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive because of the increased cost of food.
So they were amazed when Danville letter carriers collected twice as much food as they did last year.
