CHAMPAIGN – The city council gave final approval Tuesday night to a $120 million budget that adds several new employees and includes a number of major public works projects.
Overall, Finance Director Richard Schnuer said the budget is relatively conservative, as the city's biggest income source – sales taxes – is expected to grow by a modest 2.5 percent, to $31.1 million. Typically, sales tax income grows 3 to 4 percent annually in Champaign.
